"Golfer"

Shirley Wagner/Jason Butler Artist Statement

Set within the Village of Oak Creek's Public Art-in-the-Roundabouts, the artist team of Shirley Wagner and Jason Butler explored the recreational theme as offered by the committee. It was the artists’ intent to create a thought provoking piece of public art in their unique style of artmaking which would tell the story of the Oak Creek community from a fresh, contemporary perspective. For this reason, the artist team is proposing a contemporary 12-16' sculpture of a golfer. A golfer will celebrate the outdoor recreational theme in an exciting new format that will set Oak Creek apart from neighboring communities while elevating the art experience for all. The two-person sculpture team with multiple disciplines collectively bring to this endeavor over 40 years of experience in designing, creating, constructing and installing public sculpture.
