A Community Collaboration
In October of 2022, the AiR Committee hosted a launch event of community leaders to introduce the project and gauge interest. Fifty leaders from the Big Park Council, Village of Oak Creek Association, Sedona Village Partnership, Red Rock Road Enhancement Maintenance District and Yavapai County were present. The excitement was encouraging and thoughtful; positive comments were incorporated into the committee’s approach.
As the project reaches development points, the committee will issue surveys to gather input from residents. These will be announced via local print media, social media, the Big Park Council and this website. The best way to stay informed is to join our email subscriber list to receive the surveys and periodic updates – don’t delay!
Once the community has confirmed the artistic direction of the program, a Call to Artists for Entries will be promoted to solicit submissions from artists, both locally and nationally.
In order to ratify the committee’s proposed design criteria and collect general sentiment about the project, the committee requests your participation in the first survey.

Survey #1 – March 2023
Description: The committee’s preliminary artwork selection criteria recommend that artworks adhere to proposed themes, described in the survey. Artwork will be selected on its ability to clearly convey one of the themes, along with quality, durability and maintainability, scale, visibility from all directions of approach, colors, and eventually the art’s cost. Survey closes April 30, 2023. NOTE: AZ Department of Transportation requirements and safety mandates will be written into the final criteria for submissions.
